I have truly enjoyed living at The Laurel for the past few months! The location is wonderful and convenient! The staff members ... are friendly and truly care about those who live here. The Laurel not only provides great amenities, the staff members also plan events and want to know how they can make improvements. The only area that I would change is parking. The parking garage/parking spots are small and a tight squeeze to get into sometimes. When I had difficulty with my parking space, one of the staff members worked with me to ensure that she could help me the best she could in fixing the situation and I appreciate that. The Best Place I’ve Lived
The Laurel is the only apartment building I’ve lived in for more than 1 year. Miranda, Alex, Haley, and Raphael have all ... been great to me and very accommodating when I have requests. While guest/overnight parking can be tricky or difficult, it’s hard to beat this location. The walkability score is very high. All of downtown is within walking distance. While the building has some age, the apartments don’t give you the sense that it’s an old building. Stainless steel appliances, marble (or granite) countertops, high ceilings, full W/D, and energy efficient lights are hard to beat at this price. There really aren't enough words to indicate just how happy I am that we moved to The Laurel. But I'll try. ;) I've ... no plans of ever leaving the building. I might change apartments once my kiddo gets married and decides on kids, but we are planning to be life-long residents! Everyone we've met in the halls, the elevators, the garage, and the lobby have been so friendly! Walking across the street to work cannot be beat. And the restaurants. And the MX! And the excitement of living downtown! Having been in a poorly managed (downtown) building previously, management and maintenance were high on my list of must haves and The Laurel has not only met, but exceeded, my expectations. Shortly after we moved into The Laurel, we had a water issue with the laundry which was dealt with within the hour. A leaking ceiling in our laundry room in our previous building was never repaired over the two year span of residency! Not long ago I was rudely awakened on an early Saturday morning by my smoke alarm - no fire, but the battery had run its course. No chirping to let me know it was on its way out, only a piercing scream at 5:45 am. Maintenance was in within about 30 minutes (I did wake them up, after all) and took care of the issue. At my last building, the tenants were responsible for changing the batteries in the alarms even though they were placed well out of reach of a step ladder. We could, of course, call the office and have it taken care of - for an additional charge. A chirping alarm on Friday did not warrant correction until Monday.... Coming to The Laurel has been an amazing change in our lives. So much so that I took a friend of mine who works at another law firm over to "tour" the building at lunchtime today and talk with Alex about an apartment! After seeing the building and meeting Alex, we went to lunch and she told me "I'm sold - this will be the place!" I'm so excited for her to experience this amazing way of life! Great place to live
The Laurel is by far the best place I've lived. I actually lived here, moved away for a year, and then moved back because ... I missed it so much. The staff is incredible, neighbors are friendly and respectful, and the building is in great shape. I looked at several other buildings downtown that had similar amenities in the same price range, but nothing was as well-kept as The Laurel. Couldn't Pick A Better Place!
I have loved living at The Laurel! The staff made the move process incredibly smooth and an excellent transition. Everyone ... has been welcoming and eager to answer any questions I may have. Maintenance has been quick to respond to any concerns. The only thing I would change is for the bedrooms to have ceiling fans installed. Best Staff
The Leasing Office staff has probably been the best I have come across since being in St. Louis. They are very quick at resolving ... issues, usually within 24 hours of contacting them. I love living here. Apartment is beautiful, amenities are great. Pricing is decent for downtown St. Louis. Mostly good
I've lived here for about a year and a half and it has been pretty good. It's a great location. I have looked at many of ... the downtown apartments and have friends living in some, and the Laurel seems to be better maintained. As with all buildings, things break at times but they do get right on it. The other thing I like is they proactively communicate that something is broken and give an estimate on when it will be fixed. The staff are all friendly. Package pickup is usually available till late. There are a couple of negatives. First, as with many downtown locations people want to wander in--waiting for friends, getting out of the cold, mischief, etc. The door is secured but people sneak in behind you or basically demand to be let in. It gets very uncomfortable. There was security on weekend nights but we haven't had that for a few weeks. Second, the attached hotel (Embassy Suites) has the rudest, most unprofessional staff; this includes their security and valet. They attempt to tell you what you can and can't do even though it's not their right. They have yelled at my friend to not park in front even though we had an email from management saying it was okay. They then came out again and lied saying they worked at The Laurel. The night manager has yelled at me like a teenage girl in a cat fight when I simply tried to discuss it with him. Another time he jumped around like a bafoon screaming that he was taking pictures of me. The valet drivers speed through the garage going the wrong direction if it benefits them. My best advice is to just try not to interact with them. Unfortunately, the employees and hotel guests can get into the building any time they want. After down sizing, from my empty nest, I started my quest for urban living. I looked at 15 apartments downtown STL, and ... The Laurel Apartments was the last on my list. I submitted my application the next morning after my visit. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with my choice. The location is PERFECT, walking distance to EVERYTHING. Great place to live!
The only reason parking is 4 stars is because the garage is tight to move around in. After a few months we are used to it ... and it is very nice to have parking in the same building!! I never hear my neighbors so noise has never been an issue. The staff are all so amazing and maintenance crew responds quickly! Great location, friendly community
The Laurel is such a wonderful place to live. Super spacious with high ceilings and a brand new kitchen. My favorite parts ... are the workout center and the fact that each unit has a washer and dryer in the apartment. Great views of downtown and within walking distance of popular eateries and the Gateway arch. Not only is the staff super friendly, but they are also very accommodating of any special needs and most requests. There are also popular community activities to do on a monthly basis. We've had burger joint events, halloween parties, and have an upcoming holiday bash. Honestly the only challenge I've come across while living here would be the size of the parking garage. As long as you go slow and are aware of your surroundings it shouldn't be a problem for you. If you're looking for a fun-loving community in a great location this is the place for you. Perfect Fit
Moved into the Laurel in July and it has been a perfect fit for everything. The apartment was in fantastic condition with ... great appliances and amazing natural lighting from the huge windows which is a major plus that helps make the space feel larger. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help when needed. The biggest plus though has to be the location with great restaurants, bars, and entertainment all within a short walk. along with this being a short 15 min walk from Busch Stadium for games and even closer to Culinaria for shopping.
